Student Research Projects

Throughout my 12 years of instructing with Embry Riddle many changes have occurred.  When starting in 2004 the predominant method for adjunct instruction was in the classroom.  Since then On-line, Eagle Vision classroom, Eagle Vision Home and Blended methods have become the preferred modalities.  Eagle Vision classes are taught via remote feeds.

Embry Riddle initiated the IGNITE Program several years ago.  The intention of the program is to encourage research throughout the university.

When instructing in the classroom one of the preferred norms was to have students present in PPT format and it was a viable method allowing students to visualize the projects and the presenters to have some audience time.  However, I realized that PPT presentations did not increase the value of learning in Eagle Vision especially in the Home modality.  Also with the IGNITE theory the ppt. was nothing more than a finalized snap shot of the research.

Several years ago I decided to experiment with the Social Media platform.  The Social Media platform can be Facebook, blog, wiki web page etc. to include the eFolio.  The Social media platform allows for weekly intervention into the students research by the instructor, classmates and even outside sources such as co-workers and bosses.  This process allows for a true 9 week research initiative.   I am attaching links to the projects the students have submitted throughout this last year and will update as classes finish. The results have turned out better than I could have imagined. The eFolio is the preferred method used in my classes today.  Just recently I noticed that after a year the eFolio project is no longer accessible thus the reason for the break in projects.   Beginning this semester 08/2016 the students will submit a PDF file of their work and I will list it under their link.  When the link becomes inactive the file will remain.
